A family of five in the Mandya region of Karnataka narrowly escaped when an electric scooter detonated inside their home, destroying numerous furniture pieces and appliances. Within minutes of being plugged in, an electric scooter from the Route Electric company that was charging inside a house exploded. The incident happened in the Karnataka village of Valagerehalli in the Maddur Taluk of the Mandya District.
Around 8:30 am, the scooter’s owner, Muthuraj, who had bought the e-scooter for 85,000 from a dealership in Mandya some six months prior, had parked it inside the home for charging. Within minutes, the battery blew up, and the scooter caught fire. Five people were present in the home at the time of the occurrence.
Thankfully, everyone avoided serious injury because they were all distant from the scooter at the moment that the accident occurred. The explosion, however, resulted in the burning of a TV, a fridge, a dining table, mobile phones, and other objects.
“At the time of the accident, my entire family was present. There was a child nearby when the scooter caught fire. We failed to extinguish the fire “Muthuraj stated.
“Two or three cell phones have been damaged. All of the home items, including the refrigerator, TV, dining table, and glasses, were broken by the impact “He added.
