Audi’s Foray into E-Bike market

An electric mountain bike has been introduced by German luxury automaker Audi, expanding its product line. The e-bike is based on the XMF 1.7 model and is inspired by the company’s RS Q e-tron E2 electric Dakar Rally racer. Italian bicycle manufacturer Fantic created an electric mountain bike for Audi.

It has a 720Wh battery and a 250W Brose motor, both of which are said to produce 66 ft/lb of peak torque. The power pack on the electric mountain bike is bigger than the Bash/Mtn from Harley-Davidson. Range claims range from 48 to 152 kilometres. Yet, Audi has been quiet on its top speed.

Four Different Styles

There are four distinct electric modes available on the brand-new Audio e-bike. These consist of the gentle Eco, Sport, Tour, and full-on Boost modes. The electric mountain bike is constructed from aluminium. Aside from the engine and battery, it also incorporates parts from the Porsche eBike portfolio.

According to Andrew Doyle, Director, Audi UK, “The Audi electric mountain bike, produced in partnership with Fantic, is another wonderful illustration of how we can broaden our mobility offering to consumers that spans beyond the award-winning cars they drive.

Brakes IN.CAS disc brakes, a hlins fork and shock, and Sram parts for the chain, levers, and derailleur make up the braking system of the Audi e-bike. Compared to the XMF 1.7’s 6.7in of suspension travel, the hlins gear offers 7.1in. The Sella Italia seat and Vittoria tyres on the bike are both made in Italy.
