There will be CNG and Electric Versions of these Tata Automobiles – What you may Expect

The recently released models have a first-in-segment leakage detecting system that enables them to switch to petrol immediately in the event of a gas leak. The powertrain configuration for the Punch CNG and Altroz CNG includes a factory-installed CNG kit in addition to a 1.2-liter petrol engine.

With the addition of CNG and electric options, Tata has expanded its selection for the Punch mini SUV and Altroz hatchback models. At this year’s Auto Fair, both CNG variants were on show. The automaker has unveiled an unique dual-cylinder configuration above the back flooring, with each cylinder storing up to 30 litres, to conserve boot space. A Single Improved ECU and Direct State CNG technology are further features of the new Tata CNG vehicles.

The manufacturer claims that the recently unveiled models come equipped with a segment-first leakage detection system that enables them to automatically change to petrol in the event of a gas spill. A 1.2-liter petrol engine plus a factory-installed CNG kit make up the powertrain setup for the Altroz CNG and Punch CNG. This configuration produces a maximum torque of 95Nm and a max power output of 77PS. The gearbox will be handled by a 5-speed manual.

The CNG variants will come standard with the same equipment as the conventional petrol vehicles, such as a height-adjustable driver seat, an electric sunroof, a 7-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, a semi-digital instrument layout, automatic climate control, leatherette seat upholstery, and projector headlamps.

The Punch EV, which Tata revealed at the 2023 Auto Fair, will likely be released around the holiday season. The car will likely utilise Tata’s Ziptron powertrain and is built on a modified Alfa chassis. The Punch EV is anticipated to be more energy-efficient, roomier, and lighter than its ICE-powered counterpart because to the new Sigma design. Like the Nexon EV, the electric compact SUV may have two battery packs.
