Climate Change – A Couple Will Attempt the Pole-To-Pole Electric Automobile Challenge

A husband and wife team from Aberdeen plan to travel in an electric vehicle from the Arctic to the Antarctic.

This week, Chris and Julie Ramsey will embark on a 17,000-mile (27,000-kilometer) journey from the Magnetic North to South Pole.

They plan to use both wind and solar energy to power their car for the majority of the journey.

During the course of ten arduous months, the pair will cross into Canada, then travel south through the United States and into South America.

Mexico, Nicaragua, Honduras, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Chile, and Argentina will all be stops along their route.

They acknowledge that many things, including their relationship, may be tested by the adventure.

In order to maintain their strength, they would bring supplies of the humble buttery, a native treat made of lard, butter, and sugar also known as a rowie or an Aberdeen roll, from Aberdeen.

Charging the Vehicle

How will we charge the automobile in the arctic regions, where there is no energy supply, is one of the most frequently asked issues, according to Mrs. Ramsey.

“This vehicle will be powered by renewable energy sources like the sunlight and wind by being pulled behind a wind turbine with full double solar panels.”

Pioneers of the Challenge – To address who doubt EVs

This had never been done before, so it was incredibly difficult and original.

She explained that the purpose was to dispel common misconceptions about electric vehicles’ range and range efficiency.

“We’re really pushing the car to its limits to discover what it’s capable of. We are taking the car through the roughest of circumstances, including negative temperatures and tremendous heat.”
The vehicle has been equipped with huge tyres in an effort to handle rough terrain.

Additionally, there are some modern conveniences, including a coffee maker in the boot. The couple can video their excursion thanks to the drone launcher that is also present.

Season after season

Pole to Pole, according to Mr. Ramsey, is the world’s best drive from a magnetic North Pole site in the Artic all the way across the Americas and finally into the South Pole in Antarctica.

“No car has ever tried this in history, and certainly no electric vehicle.”

“Some people might think it’ll take 10 months because of the limitations of the car, but it won’t. Due to our seasonal vacation, we will be gone for ten months.”

Hence, during the Arctic summer, we will profit from the light for solar power, and the Antarctic expedition season begins in December. Also, there is continuous daylight, which supports our solar efforts.

Adventurous Couple have done it before

The duo has a history of beating the odds.

They became the first team to successfully finish the 10,000-mile (16,000-kilometer) Mongol Rally from London to Mongolia in an electric vehicle in 2017.

Mrs. Ramsey stated, “Having completed the Mongol Rally, it has brought me conviction that we can accomplish this.

“We are collaborating with the appropriate individuals and have implemented the right steps. I am very certain that we can do it because of our zeal and conviction as well as the car’s capability.”

Undoubtedly, there will be difficulties; the journey won’t be simple, but what would an adventure be without a challenge?

She continued by saying that the couple wouldn’t forget their rowing materials.

“We’ll bring a little bit of Scotland with us,”.
