Tesla’s First V4 Supercharger Station- a First Glance

Today marks the beginning of a new era for the DC fast-charging station as we get our first close-up look at Tesla’s first V4 Supercharger station.

Last year, we reported on Tesla’s Supercharger V4 design being disclosed in the blueprints for a new station. It is reported that Tesla is stepping up manufacture of the new charger in preparation for a quick deployment. The potential for a greater charge rate (which is now capped at 250 kW for the Supercharger V3) and a mechanism to enable CCS charging for non-Tesla electric vehicles are two features that are anticipated for the new charger.

Later it was discovered that the Magic Dock was the CCS answer. Just Supercharger V3 stations have used it so far, and the V4 hadn’t been spotted until earlier this month.

In the Netherlands, Tesla began to install its first Supercharger V4 station, as we previously reported. However, The station was still kept under wraps.

Tesla has now released the stalls and is nearly finished assembling the Supercharger station:

Expected to Open Later This Month

That station’s expected opening later this month has apparently been verified by Tesla. For the first time, the Supercharger V4 stall is visible without being covered or opened.

Because the stall is, as was to be predicted, much higher than the previous model, Tesla was able to attach the cable higher up, resulting in an extended overall cable.

When more non-Tesla vehicles begin to utilise the Supercharger network, a longer cable will become increasingly essential because not all electric vehicles have a charge port in the same location as Teslas.

For many years to come, Supercharger stations will probably look like this. But there’s still a lot about Supercharger V4 that we don’t understand.

Now that the first station has been set up, further information about the new station should soon become available, particularly regarding the potential extra efficiency of Supercharger V4.
