Nissan Recalls Its Electric Ariya Vehicle As A Result Of A Steering Wheel Issue, Following Tesla

Nissan Motor Co. recently revealed that it is recalling certain 2023 Ariya electric SUVs in the United States because the steering wheels of these cars could come off while you’re driving. This was reported by IT House on March 13.

Driving will be quite dangerous in this scenario, so Nissan advises car owners to verify the stability of the steering wheel. They should get in touch with the dealer right once if there are any indications of looseness.

Nissan is requesting owners to lightly shake the steering wheel with their hands to check for any looseness, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) recall. The manufacturer encourages owners to “send the car to a dealership for recall and repair as soon as feasible” if this is the case.

IT Home reports that 1,063 automobiles are included in this recall, while Nissan claims that only 0.18% of those (or around 2 vehicles) may actually have a loose steering wheel. The steering wheel may not have been correctly mounted or adjusted, according to Nissan, which might be the reason why it became loose or even fell off. According to the firm, impacted owners would not be charged to have the bolts replaced by dealers.

Nissan has not yet heard of any incidents involving accidents or injuries as a result of the problem. Nonetheless, the business noted in the report that it had received three complaints from dealers that the steering wheel on the Ariya had become loose.

Nissan did not provide any additional information when it was stated that the affected models’ steering wheels had been replaced at the port because of another problem.

It is important to note that the Tesla Model Y was also under investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) owing to the steering wheel coming off while driving, and a safety recall may be necessary.
