The Tesla Model S Now Has a Circular Steering Wheel, a New Colour Choice, and a Glass Roof

Tesla just revealed that it has upgraded the Model S with a number of new options in a email communication to its customers. Although the look is the same, there are technical upgrades that Tesla anticipates will keep the Model S, which is 15 years old, current.

The Model S was introduced in 2008, but the first cars were delivered to customers in 2012. The car underwent a number of small cosmetic tweaks, but overall, Franz vo Holzhausen, Tesla’s principal designer, kept the design the same and made sure it looked current.

Returning to the Model S, the introduction of the Hardware 4 with the enhanced set of cameras and the Phoenix radar is, of course, the biggest news. According to Tesla, this non-pulsed automobile radar provides 3 sensor modes and operates in the 76–77 GHz range.

The new, $3,000 optional Ultra Red hue is the following; it is not to be confused with the Midnight Cherry Red utilised at Giga Berlin. Only at the Fremont factory will this new hue be used, which is exclusive to the Model S and Model X. Here is Tesla’s brief video presentation:

More Modifications

Not only that, but the Tesla Model S also includes a brand-new glass roof. Since it cannot physically grow any bigger than it already is, it isn’t bigger, but the new glass is lightweight and allows more light to enter. In doing so, it continues to provide the same level of heat protection, UV light protection, and strength as the earlier used item.

Finally, Tesla includes upgraded brake pads with a significantly larger heat capacity. That just means that Tesla’s terrible brakes will function better, or at best there is hope that they will.

And finally, there is a return of the steering wheel. Tesla is reintroducing the circular steering wheel as a charge-free option following a somewhat dubious yoke deployment and the outrage it garnered. Although the yoke is still offered, clients now have an option.

As a result of ardent Tesla supporters, the first modified Model S units are currently shipping to consumers. Several vehicles in the new Ultra Red colour have also been sighted at the Fremont factory.
