The Tesla design boss suggests that the vehicle’s range might become more vibrant

One aspect of Tesla’s offerings has strangely remained limited even as the automaker has increased the number of trim levels and vehicles it produces, paint shades. However, this may alter soon.

When the host of the Ride the Lightning podcast recently had a conversation with Tesla’s design chief Franz von Holzhausen, Noteateslapp noticed that he was asked if American customers could anticipate any additional colors shortly. Von Holzhausen’s responses were encouraging for fans of variety, despite his guarded demeanor.

He responded, “yeah, I hope so,” when asked if more color options were coming to Americans soon. Von Holzhausen added cryptically, “Wait and see,” when pressed on the subject and reminded that he is in charge of design.

The Model Y, which recently began production in Germany, served as the prompt for the inquiry. Examples produced at that plant receive two distinct colors: Red from Midnight Cherry and Quicksilver. Von Holzhausen claims that the colors were developed in the United States, despite only being produced at its Berlin plant.

He explained, “We develop all the colors here, with a team, evolve them, and we do all the testing and development.” However, this does not necessarily imply that the colors will be utilized here. The designer asserts that CEO Elon Musk, who has “the final say,” is the ultimate arbiter.

It should not come as a surprise that the automaker is resistant to introducing new complications given that production issues have plagued the company for years. As a result, the company has brought the man who established its Chinese plant to the United States to oversee global production.

However, despite von Holzhausen’s evasive response, it appears that potential Tesla customers who wish they could purchase a vehicle in a wider variety of colors can find some hope.
