Even though the public’s interest in the new technology has only recently started to grow, electric vehicles are already beginning to reach some pretty impressive speeds. With more speedy, clean-energy vehicles available to consumers than ever before, Tesla, Lucid, and traditional carmakers like Audi and Mercedes are among the manufacturers of some of the fastest EVs currently on the market.

On Kelley Blue Book’s list of the top 10 fastest EVs, Tesla’s cars occupy four spots, with the Model S Plaid coming in just behind following the 2023 Lucid Air Sapphire. There are also notable models from Lucid Motors, Audi, Porsche, and Mercedes-Benz on the list, although none of them have made as many rankings-related contributions as Tesla.

The peak speeds and 0-60 times of the Model S Plaid and the Lucid Air Sapphire are comparable, but the Model S Plaid is also less expensive, with prices starting at $104,990, compared to the Air Sapphire. The Air Sapphire has 1,200 horsepower, compared to the Model S Plaid’s 1,020.

The Tesla Model X Plaid and the Lucid Air Grand Touring Performance are, respectively, closely followed by the Tesla Model S Plaid and the Lucid Air Sapphire. With a 0-60 time of 2.5 seconds and a maximum speed of 163 mph, the Model X is the fastest SUV on the list, just edging out the Lucid Air GT Performance model.

Two of the least costly EVs on the list—and both of them were under $100,000—were the Tesla Model 3 Performance, which came in fifth, and the Tesla Model Y Performance, which came in ninth.

The table below, which was reconstructed from Kelley Blue Book, shows the complete rankings for the quickest electric vehicles for the 2023 model year.
