Mercedes-ultra-luxury Benz’s sub-brand Maybach is getting ready to unveil its first electric, zero-emission SUV at Auto Shanghai in China on April 17, 2023.
Five years ago, at Auto China Beijing, the carmaker debuted a premium SUV concept for the first time. The vehicle was supposed to have four small permanent-magnet synchronous motors, an all-wheel drive system with 750 horsepower, and a top speed cap of 155 mph (150 km/h), however it’s possible that designs have changed over time.
Mercedes showed a Maybach SUV concept model of their EQS electric sedan three years later, in 2021, stating it was “near-production” at the time.
Since it is based on the Mercedes EQS SUV, we anticipate it will have more power than the 580 4MATIC SUV, with 536 horsepower and 633 lb-ft of torque. Mercedes hasn’t yet provided all the specifics. A 108.4 kWh battery provides the 580 4MATIC with a range of up to 285 miles.
