Mercedes Previewed its First Premium Luxury SUV that is all Electric, the Maybach EQS 680

The Maybach EQS 680 premium luxury SUV, the first all-electric series production model from Mercedes-Maybach, was teased ahead of its April introduction.

Mercedes is getting ready to unveil its first electrified Maybach SUV

Mercedes-ultra-luxury Benz’s sub-brand Maybach is getting ready to unveil its first electric, zero-emission SUV at Auto Shanghai in China on April 17, 2023.

Five years ago, at Auto China Beijing, the carmaker debuted a premium SUV concept for the first time. The vehicle was supposed to have four small permanent-magnet synchronous motors, an all-wheel drive system with 750 horsepower, and a top speed cap of 155 mph (150 km/h), however it’s possible that designs have changed over time.

Mercedes showed a Maybach SUV concept model of their EQS electric sedan three years later, in 2021, stating it was “near-production” at the time.

Since it is based on the Mercedes EQS SUV, we anticipate it will have more power than the 580 4MATIC SUV, with 536 horsepower and 633 lb-ft of torque. Mercedes hasn’t yet provided all the specifics. A 108.4 kWh battery provides the 580 4MATIC with a range of up to 285 miles.

The Maybach electric SUV is anticipated to have expensive interior features including ultra-luxurious leather and customisable settings.

Maybach’s first electric car is anticipated to incorporate the newest in technology and design, as well as intuitive touch screens and other user-friendly features, similar to the Mercedes EQS SUV.

It’s apparent that Mercedes Maybach is only teasing us with a single preview picture of the SUV, which is entirely obscured. Next month, we will have all the information regarding the launch, so check back.

On Monday, April 17, 2023, at the Auto Shanghai in China, the business will make the series-production model public. Afterwards, the announcement will be made digitally on the automaker’s website as well as its YouTube, LinkedIn, and Twitter feeds.

The S 580 e sedan, the first plug-in hybrid from Mercedes-Maybach, was also unveiled earlier this year. It has a range of approximately 62 miles (100 km) on electricity alone, which is double that of the Toyota Prius.
