Nissan Teases an R32 Skyline GT-R that Runs on Electricity

Nissan has accepted the challenge of creating an electric vehicle prototype of the R-32 Skyline GT-R, also known as Godzilla to its ardent devotees.

Nissan announced the ambitious initiative on Twitter and added that it was developed by an engineer who recently joined the firm and is passionate about turning the legendary GT-R electric.

Nissan is likely to create a Frankenstein-like automobile with an electric drivetrain and a tailpipe that still contains an ICE engine. The teaser video does include an original R-32 and genuine internal combustion engine noises. Yet, petrolheads will go bananas if Nissan decides to really build the R32 GT-R electrified concept.

Despite being the third version of the vehicle, the R32 GT-R was the one that ignited the initial buzz in 1989. It had a straight-six, 2.6-liter, twin-turbocharged gasoline engine that produced 276 horsepower and 353 pound-feet of torque and had two doors.

Nissan completely redesigned the GT-R in 2009, creating the R35, a car that is now almost equally iconic.
