Overview of Drag Strip Mode
In 2021, the updated Model S and Model X featured the Drag Strip Mode, enabling users to enjoy spectacular acceleration in a safe setting.
Drag Strip Mode’s primary goal is to prepare the battery and drive unit for timed acceleration’s best performance. After three hours, the functionality times out in order to conserve energy. In order to keep the battery at the proper temperature range, the car uses more energy in this mode.

Taking the Cheetah Position
Hold the brake pedal firmly with your left foot when the Model S is in Drive and completely stopped, then fully depress the accelerator pedal. The vehicle starts to assume a “cheetah stance” as a result.
In launch mode, the front of the car drops towards the ground to increase front axle traction. The “cheetah stance” keeps the front of the car down, preventing it from rising and losing traction off the front wheels, improving grip throughout the zero to 60 acceleration.
How to Launch
Hold the brake pedal down after entering the “cheetah stance” and wait for the instrument cluster to show “Cheetah Stance Enabled” and “Ready to launch.”
When ready, just let off of the brake pedal to start the car. Drag Strip Mode should only be used on closed-circuit driving courses, it is crucial to remember, and drivers should make sure their driving does not endanger or inconvenience others. Furthermore dramatically lowering ground clearance is the “cheetah posture.”
