Tesla Adds Remote Test Drives to Increase its Online Sales Presence

Tesla is extending its new remote test drive sites and virtual sales consultants and sales technique to Europe.

The implementation of a new sales plan by Tesla was exclusively revealed by Electrek in the summer of 2021. The primary changes, according to our reporting at the time, were the automaker’s decision to switch from high-rent locations in malls and retail areas to delivery centres and outlying test drives.

Although Tesla has acknowledged that physical presence is still required to allow test drives, the approach is once again centred on online sales.

In North America, when a consumer ordered a Tesla vehicle online, a “Tesla Adviser” at their neighbourhood store was assigned to help manage the procedure leading up to the delivery.

Instead, Tesla began distributing orders to “virtual sales advisers” who were not affiliated with any particular stores, allowing buyers to travel to low-cost remote test drive locations where Tesla vehicles were parked.

This new strategy has been progressively being implemented by the corporation in North America. With the opening of its first remote test drive hub in Sweden, Tesla has now extended its approach to Europe:

Applied in Europe after Tasting Success in US

This makes it possible for Tesla to run these locations with a tiny staff. Just maintaining clean and charged vehicles is all that the company needs to do.

Sources tell that Tesla was already finding some success with the first few facilities in the US when it was originally reported on the new tactic in 2021.

We must presume that the manufacturer is satisfied with this strategy and has opted to execute it in other markets given that the corporation is now expanding it in Europe.
