Volkswagen unveiled the ID 2all inexpensive electric vehicle concept, which has a roughly 300-mile range

Presenting, The VW ID 2all EV Concept Car: VW unveiled the ID 2all concept, an inexpensive EV with a 450-kilometre range (279 miles). After investing an additional $200 billion (€180 billion) to accelerate digitalization and EV research over the following five years, VW is going forward with a new EV concept.

The carmaker believes it is well-positioned for future growth with many new vehicle launches on the horizon. Volkswagen delivered more than 570,000 EVs last year, preserving its position as the BEV market leader in Europe.

Volkswagen has unveiled its affordable electric vehicle, the ID 2all concept, which costs about $27,000 (€25,000), in an effort to stave off competition from Tesla and many other manufacturers.

The ID 2all, which sits below the freshly revised ID. 3, is as roomy as its Golf counterpart and as affordable as the Polo. It also has a range of up to 279 miles (450 km) and a number of additional amenities. Thomas Shafer, the head of VW Passenger Vehicles, explains:

We are quickly and completely changing the business with the specific goal of turning Volkswagen into a Love Brand. Where we aim to push the brand is demonstrated by ID. 2all. We want to be accessible to customers and provide cutting-edge technology in stunning designs. To quickly offer electric mobility to the masses, the shift is being implemented.

The MEB Entry Platform, the first car with front-wheel drive based on VW’s innovative modular electric drive (MEB) platform, will support the company’s cheap EV.

Volkswagen’s ID. LIFE concept was originally intended to be the first reasonably priced EV built on the new platform created for the smaller car category, however it appears that those plans have been shelved.

Design of the interior and outside

The exterior previews a new design language from the company and draws inspiration from iconic Volkswagen models like the Beetle and Golf.

The ID 2all has been tidied up on the front end and has a “clear and muscular” posture with strong fender flares covering a wide track, long wheelbase, and short overhangs.

Andreas Mindt, a former Bentley and Audi designer who just rejoined Volkswagen as head of design for Volkswagen Passenger Vehicles, claims that the VW ID 2all idea is based on three pillars: stability, likeability, and passion.

The C-pillar design created for the original Golf model is one of the new interior’s most noticeable features. As a result, the cabin has a large, premium aspect.

A redesigned menu structure and a separate air conditioning control panel are both present on the 12.9 touch display. Also, the new multifunction steering wheel has two thumb wheels and buttons on either side and is quite simple.

The Power Specs & Price

The ID. 2all has a “strong electric drive motor” that generates 226 PS and 222 horsepower, and it can go from 0 to 60 mph (0-100 km/h) in less than seven seconds.

VW claims that it can charge its new electric vehicle to 80% of its capacity in less than 20 minutes, though specifics are not provided. Volkswagen claims that the ID 2all, although being a concept car, will be released in production form for all European markets in 2025, with a starting price of less than 25,000 euros.

VW EVs for the Future

By 2025, the carmaker now intends for at least one out of every five automobiles sold worldwide to be electric. The production-ready ID 2all will be one of ten EVs that Volkswagen will introduce by 2026.

Volkswagen will launch the new ID. 3, ID. Buzz, and ID. 7 this year. In 2026, a small electric SUV will be released as a follow-up. VW appears to have no intentions to import the ID 2all idea into the US, which is unfortunate. The good news is that VW intends to put it into production.

Can they manufacture it for the amount they are claiming? will be the actual query. Or perhaps even more crucially, can they make a profit-producing it at that cost?

We believe that a stylish, reasonably priced electric car from the Volkswagen brand with a nearly 300-mile range would do well in the market.
