Ford unveils a Type A Electric School Bus

Yes, Ford is producing electric school buses. A Type a electric school bus can be purchased from the manufacturer, which is based on its best-selling E-Transit commercial van.

E-Transit Van

Ford first unveiled the E-Transit in 2020 as a smart workhorse all-electric edition of its best-selling cargo van to power the business of tomorrow.

An all-electric cargo van was introduced by Ford as the first full-line carmaker in North America, and it has since shot up the sales charts. Ford reported having a commanding 95% market share in the electric van market when it started disclosing E-Transit sales information in July of last year.

The E-Transit maintained its lead, selling 6,500 vehicles in the US in 2022 and also being the best-selling EV van in Europe and Canada, despite the fact that several rivals introduced Electric vans this past year.

Ford has made significant agreements with industry titans including logistical leader Deutsche Post DHL Group (DHL), and more recently, Ford will provide the US Postal Service with 9,250 electrified mail trucks.

Electric School Bus

Once more demonstrating its adaptability, the E-Transit is now an electric school bus. In reference to the E-Transit powertrain at Work Truck Week in Indianapolis, Indiana, the Type A electric school bus was featured in a tweet by Ford Pro’s global chief marketing and experience officer, Wanda Young.

According to Ford, the E-Transit is the first van to deliver a Type A school bus with an electric motor from a full-line carmaker.

After just one year on the market, the E-Transit already is proving to be a revolutionary electric van, saving more than 745,000 gallons of gasoline. This prevents the atmosphere of Earth from absorbing more than 4.3 million tonnes of CO2!

Ford claims that using the low-roof E-Transit can reduce CO2 emissions by 57% over the course of the vehicle’s lifetime when compared to conventional gas-powered delivery vans.

What Do E-AutoArena Feel

With E-Transit already aiding on cutting carbon emissions in the commercial transport & delivery market, adding postal delivery & school buses will prove a game changer from Ford.

More than 25 million children take the school bus every year, making up for 5.7 billion miles. This move of electrifying school buses will be a paradigm shift in the way school transport is taken place as current school buses pose danger to the kids and communities, they operate in. Overall, an incredible transport vehicle is in the works. Kudos from E-AutoArena.
