US- Long-Range BEVs Sold the Most in 2022

In their best settings, the majority of the top-selling vehicles have a range of more than 300 miles.

The driving range has always been one of the most crucial aspects when it comes to electric automobiles, as seen by sales figures.

According to the Vehicle Technologies Office of the Department of Energy (DOE), the top ten new all-electric car models in 2022 (based on registrations) were those with “long ranges.”

Applying the EPA Combined range rating, it comes out that eight of the top 10 BEVs have a range of at least 300 miles (483 km) (maximum value). The Chevrolet Bolt EUV has the lowest range at 247 miles (397 km).

According to the description, all models that made this list had a range of more than 200 miles (322 km), even when taking into account the short-range options (smaller battery).

Note: For the model year 2022, the range refers to the maximum range permitted by the EPA.

The driving range is undoubtedly not a magic ingredient that will instantly turn a car into the best-selling model, however the data seems to support the notion that buyers frequently seek for electric vehicles with a range of at least 300 miles.

We are unable to predict if this will rise more in the future, to 350 or 400 miles, given the cost and fast charging capacities also play a role. However, we anticipate that there won’t be many vehicles with a range of less than 200 miles.
