Ola Electric users will receive a refund of Rs 130 crores from the EV manufacturer because…

Ola Electric Refund: The EV manufacturer will give its 1 lakh customers who bought the external chargers as extras for their S1 Pro electric scooters a total of Rs 130 crores back. The price of these electric chargers, in addition to the scooters’ ex-showroom price, was in the range of Rs 9,000 to Rs 19,000 (about).

Ola Electric Refund: Ola Electric was recently told to reimburse 1 lakh consumers who choose to buy the off-board electric charger while purchasing Ola electric scooters for Rs 130 crores. A government investigation revealed the corporation was offering on-board battery chargers for a higher price than was permitted under the FAME plan, prompting this announcement.

The company made the admission in a letter filed to the ARAI after being under investigation for overpricing by the Indian Ministry of Heavy Industries.

Ola Electric previously overcharged 1 lakh consumers by selling external chargers as extras for its S1 Pro electric scooters. This was blatantly against the FAME scheme.

As a part of the FAME programme, chargers and exclusive software cannot be provided by the companies for a price (over and above the cost of the vehicle) in an effort to restrain EV pricing and strengthen the Indian electric vehicle ecosystem.

Will abide by any order from the government

Ola Electric’s founder and CEO, Bhavish Agarwal, stated to CNBC TV18 that the company will comply with any requests made by the authorities.

After receiving accusations from whistleblowers that electric car manufacturers were abusing the rules in an effort to receive government subsidies, the government in India has tightened the noose around EV manufacturers. OEMs are reported to have overcharged for their models, disqualifying them from government subsidies. In response to these accusations, the government has begun to investigate companies including Hero Electric, Ather Energy, and Ola Electric.
