New, less expensive Model Y discreetly released by Tesla in the US

Tesla has discreetly launched a new Model Y variant for US consumers to its website. Starting at $49,990 before subsidies, this is also eligible for $7,500 federal tax credit.

Instead of “Model Y Long Range” ($52,990) and “Model Y Performance” ($56,990), it is simply referred to as “Model Y.”

This new Model Y boasts a 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) acceleration time of 5 seconds, a max speed of 135 mph (217 km/h), and a projected EPA range of 269 to 279 miles (432 to 449 km). If you choose 20″ wheels, the former is true; if you remain with the basic 19″ wheels, the latter is. It is an all-wheel drive electric vehicle with dual motors, albeit the precise power specifications haven’t yet been made public.

It is available in five colours: the free Pearl White Multi-Coat, the $2,000 Red Multi-Coat, the $1,000 Midnight Silver Metallic, or the Deep Blue Metallic.

As usual, Improved Autopilot is an extra $6,000, and the outrageously overpriced “Full Self-Driving Capability” which is not anything of the sort costs $15,000.

Tesla projects that if you place an order for a Model Y in the United States right now, it will arrive maybe this month or perhaps in May. Some individuals think that this model might be powered by 4680 battery cells.
